The Garden

I grow plants, herbs, flowers, fruits, and vegetables and explore how they can move from garden to kitchen, pantry, fermentary, and apothecary.

The Hearth

Our kitchen is our hearth, a place to gather, share what we’ve grown and made, and bring people together through food, tradition, and the simple act of making something by hand

Meet the Maker

I’ve always been drawn to the kind of knowledge that makes us a little more capable at home—the things we can grow, make, preserve, and learn to do with our own hands.

My journey with fermentation began about eight years ago with kombucha bubbling away on my kitchen counter. Over the years, I experimented here and there with other ferments, but this past year that curiosity grew into something much bigger. I began exploring fermentation more deeply—learning, experimenting, filling the counters with jars, and discovering just how much there is to know about this wonderfully simple and incredibly complex process.

That curiosity extends well beyond the fermenting crock. I’m a registered nurse, a homeschooling mom, and currently studying naturopathic principles through an online course. For several years, I’ve also been making things for our own home—from tallow lotions and lip balms to hair-care products—as our family slowly and intentionally explores a lower-tox way of living.

Hearth & Wildcraft has grown naturally from all of those pieces.

It isn’t about having everything figured out or trying to recreate life from another century. It’s about becoming more connected to what we use, what we eat, and how things are made. It’s growing herbs and learning what to do with them. It’s turning a garden harvest into something that will last beyond the season. It’s making kombucha on the counter, experimenting with a new ferment, creating something useful for our home, and then sharing what I’ve learned with someone else.

My nursing background has also shaped the way I approach this journey. I value curiosity, but I also value safety, evidence, careful observation, and knowing when tradition and modern knowledge need to sit at the same table.

I’m still learning—and I hope I always will be.

Hearth & Wildcraft is a place for me to share that journey: the things I grow, the things I make, the ferments bubbling on my counter, what works, what doesn’t, and the old skills I believe are still worth carrying forward.

From our hearth to yours, come learn alongside me.
